Police report fall in house burglaries in Nottingham

Burglaries in three areas of Nottingham have dropped by almost 80% since the start of a police operation.

Nottinghamshire Police stepped up patrols in and around Aspley, Bells Lane and Broxtowe from 9 August.

Supt Mike Manly said since the operation began, three burglaries had been reported, compared to 14 in the same period last year, a fall of 79%.

Officers are also giving useful crime prevention advice to residents, Supt Manly added.

"People who live locally will notice more bobbies on the beat and we want everyone to know we are here to make a real difference," he said.

"We not only want to find those responsible for these burglaries but we want to advise residents about how they can avoid becoming a victim in the future."
