Council approves hotel proposal for Nottingham
Plans have been approved for a 65-bedroom hotel in Nottingham city centre.
The city council has granted planning permission for the six-storey hotel to be built in Woolpack Lane, in the Lace Market.
It will incorporate a Victorian building, which will be renovated, and an adjacent 1960s building, which will be partly demolished.
The council said the plans showed the city's strength in attracting visitors.
Councillor Alan Clark, portfolio holder for Neighbourhood Regeneration, said: "Having plans for another new hotel in Nottingham city centre shows continued confidence that the city is withstanding the downturn in the national economy."
Last month, city councillors approved plans to convert a 12-storey tower block on Canal Street into a hotel.
