About 14 miles (22km) of the M1 have been reopened in Northamptonshire after a lorry jackknifed, the Highways Agency said.

The northbound carriageway was shut between junction 15A for Northampton and junction 18 for Rugby after the crash, at about 02:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The agency said it had made "extensive road repairs" after a "large diesel spill".

The road reopened at about 21:00 GMT, a spokesman said.
