Northampton energy company to recruit 100 new staff

Ten new apprentices are to be recruited and 90 jobs are being created by an energy firm in Northampton.

Opus Energy, providing gas and electricity to businesses, is recruiting for its customer service centre at Moulton Park.

The company has been in the county for 10 years and is expecting to expand further in the year ahead.

Head of operations Andy Nash said the firm had recruited 100 new staff since October 2011 and aimed to repeat this.

"We provide about 140,000 customers with energy and like to think we are challenging the big suppliers by offering a more bespoke service," he said.

"With a workforce that is now about 400, we set up in Northampton 10 years ago because of the quality of local people and the convenience of transport links.

"We hope the new jobs will be filled by local people again."
