Wollaston wind turbine plans withdrawn

Plans to erect two wind turbines on a Northamptonshire farm have been withdrawn following legal issues.

The owners of Tower Farm in Wollaston withdrew the application earlier this week because of an issue with the former owner of the land who still has rights over it.

But Chris and Sally Sumner, who now own the land, said they might continue with their bid for the turbines.

Campaigners against the application have welcomed the withdrawal.

Derek Clark MEP, who had spoken against the plan at a public meeting in January, was one of many who were pleased by the withdrawal.

"My objection to turbines is that they are useless, they only work 30% of the time delivering energy and not on full power," he said.

Mr Sumner said he was aware of the campaign against the plans.

He said: "I thought wind farms were more accepted around here, certainly with Burton Latimer wind farm and other wind farms in the area."
