Review of Northamptonshire library service begins

A review of library services across Northamptonshire has begun.

Northamptonshire County Council wants to improve services, despite the government spending review cuts, and a consultation period is under way.

The first stage of the review on Saturday involved council members speaking to local groups and organisations about what they want.

The aim is to make libraries more self-supporting and reduce council costs.

The Conservative-run council has to make a £68m budget cut in the next financial year.

Results of the discussions will inform a public consultation in the autumn.
