Northampton parks to share £250,000 investment

Nine parks and green spaces in Northampton are to benefit from a £250,000 investment.

Neighbourhood coordinators and wardens were asked to submit ideas for areas needing improvement as part of the council's I love My Park campaign.

The areas chosen include Abington park, the Racecourse, Delapre park and Becket's park, used by both people from across the county and visitors.

Work in Abington park will include refurbishing the Victorian bandstand.

At the Racecourse, money will be spent on turning the listed Pavilion into a facility that can be used by the community.

In Delapre park, work to rejuvenate the 19th Century water garden will be carried out.

Becket's park will see improvements to lighting as well as additional benches and bins.

The five other parks to benefit are Hunsbury Hill Country Park, Thornton park, Olden Road play area in Rectory Farm, Southfields playing field and the play area in Duston's Rochelle Way.
