Cannabis worth £7m found in lorry in Northamptonshire
Herbal cannabis with a street value of £7m was seized from a lorry in Northamptonshire last year, police have revealed.
The haul was found in a shipment of goods in Corby destined for outlets in the UK, and had been shipped to Tilbury docks from Cuba via Jamaica.
The container was carrying 44 boxes of cannabis weighing 1,307kg.
Details of the seizure in April 2010 have only just been released for operational reasons, police said.
A brown liquid believed to be cannabis oil with an estimated street value of £150,000 was also seized.
Det Ch Insp Tom Davies, of the Organised Crime Unit, said: "We maintain an open mind as to the eventual destination of this drugs consignment, but don't believe at this time it was intended for Northamptonshire."
