Weather in Northamptonshire holding back road schemes
Severe weather in Northamptonshire has delayed completion of road works to improve journey times on the A45.
Three schemes were due to finished by Saturday because road works are usually suspended in the county from early December until after New Year.
This is because of increased traffic in the run-up to the Christmas period.
Two major schemes in Northampton and one in Wellingborough are now due to completed by 10 December and one at Earl's Barton by 16 December.
Heather Smith, county council cabinet member for highways, minerals and waste, said: "Obviously this is far from ideal but the recent wintry weather has led to delays in completing these roadworks.
"Contractors are working as hard as possible to make sure these works are completed quickly to make sure disruption is kept to a minimum.
"However the public should bear in mind that there may be delays on these routes and to plan this into their journey times.
"We realise that this is a very busy period for people and businesses alike and that is why we normally have an embargo on traffic management on strategic routes at this time of year."
