Burglars have take four guns and ammunition in a raid on a house in Northamptonshire.

Raiders broke in between 1800 GMT on Monday 8 November and 0300 GMT the next day in Laxton, near Corby, police said.

"All the weapons have serial numbers and were stored in a locked cabinet," Det Con Sally Perry said.

"We are doing all we can to identify those responsible and with the public's vigilance we can stop these thieves and recover the weapons."

Police have issued an appeal for information.

"I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant you think it is, to contact us," Det Con Perry said.

"I would also appeal to anyone offered these weapons to call police immediately."
