School expansion to boost numbers in Northamptonshire

Two Northamptonshire school buildings could be expanded by the county council in order to cater for more pupils.

Castle primary school in Northampton currently holds 315 pupils and if an extension is added it could cater for a total of 420, a council spokesman said.

If Upton primary school, also in Northampton, has an extension built its pupil capacity could double from 210 to 420.

The public consultation into the proposals starts on Monday.

If the proposal is approved the extensions would be ready for use in September 2012.
