Patrols stepped up after 101-year-old man attacked
Police investigating an attack on a 101-year-old man have stepped up patrols in the area of Northampton where the incident took place.
The victim was in Spencer Haven on Saturday when a group of boys came up behind him and kicked away his walking stick.
He challenged the boys and was pushed to the floor suffering cuts to his wrist, arm, face and a swollen nose.
The man has been released from hospital and is being interviewed by police.
Safer Community Team patrols have been stepped up in the Spencer Haven and Gladstone Road area of the Spencer estate to provide reassurance to the local community, most of them elderly, police said.
A camera has also been installed in Spencer Haven.
