New building for fire-hit surgeries in Wellingborough

Work has begun on a £6m health centre in Northamptonshire to replace one destroyed by fire.

Three GP practices were based at the Gold Street Medical Centre in Wellingborough, which had to close after the fire in May.

About 20,000 patients of Abbey Medical Practice, Dr Datta and Partners and Dr Patel and Partners have been forced to use temporary facilities.

The new centre on the Isebrook Hospital site is expected to be ready in a year.
