Six illegal workers found at Wellingborough firm

Almost half the staff of a business in Northamptonshire have been found to be illegal workers, the UK Border Agency has said.

Officers, supported by police, raided Wellingborough Mail centre in Fleming Close on Tuesday afternoon.

Checks on the 16 people working at the mail distribution depot revealed that six Indian nationals, all men, were immigration offenders.

The UK Border Agency is now working to remove all six from the UK.

Four of the men, aged 44, 37, 36 and 27, were failed asylum seekers, the UK Border Agency said.

A 35-year-old and a 40-year-old were working in breach of valid student visas.
