Plan for 300 houses near Raunds rejected

A plan for more than 300 new houses on a greenfield site in Northamptonshire has been rejected.

Campaigners said they were delighted by the decision by East Northamptonshire District Council.

They had fought the application for the homes to the north of Raunds near the A45, arguing there were plenty of brownfield sites that could be used.

They also argued the local infrastructure would not be able to cope with the expansion.

Campaigner Graham Underwood said more than 1,000 local people were against the plans.

"There's too many houses and not enough infrastructure, not enough schools and not enough doctors," he added.

Another planning application has been made for more than 400 new homes on the other side of Raunds.
