Woman severely hurt in mobility scooter and van collision

A mobility scooter rider has been left with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run collision with a van in Norfolk.

The woman in her late 70s sustained a suspected fractured skull and internal injuries in the crash at 15:00 BST on Monday, on Brandiston Road in Cawston.

The van driver failed to stop at the scene, Norfolk Police said.

The van was later traced and a man is helping officers with their inquiries.

The woman was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where her injuries were described as "life-threatening".

Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction away from the village at the time of the collision, a police spokesman said.
