Aylsham homes and football club development approved

Plans to build 250 new houses in Aylsham, Norfolk, and create a new community sports facility for the town have been passed.

Broadland councillors voted unanimously in favour of planning permission for the development, which will be built off Cawston Road.

The 10-pitch sports ground will also become the new home of Aylsham FC.

It is expected the sports facility will be completed in a year's time, with housing to follow afterwards.

Twenty acres (eight hectares) of land was offered to build a new home for the football club as a "gift" by the family of local England rugby star Ben Youngs.

The scrum half previously said the family wanted to "give something back" to the community.
