Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2012 acts revealed

Virtuoso violinist Nigel Kennedy and guitar veteran Duane Eddy have been unveiled as the main headliners of this year's Norfolk and Norwich Festival.

The opening night of the 240th music and arts festival will also see "prehistoric beasts" roam Norwich city centre for a show called Invasion.

Also announced at Thursday's launch was the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the county each year, runs from 11 to 26 May.

Other highlights of the festival include a live game show, 100% Norfolk, involving 100 people from the county, a Dinosaur Petting Zoo for children and a theatrical car show in a city centre car park.

It was also announced the festival would be hosting a three-mile art installation along the north Norfolk coast in August.

The Spiegeltent in Norwich's Chapelfield Gardens, featuring music, comedy and theatre, will also return for its fourth year.

Artistic director William Galinsky said it was an "extraordinary year" for the festival and said it would give audiences and artists the chance to "try something completely different".

Arts Council England regional director Helen Lax said: "The festival has gone from strength to strength over the years and this year marks a new high - audiences can expect to be truly wowed by what is on offer".

Tickets go on sale on 2 March.
