Norwich chemical factory Bayer Cropscience to be sold

One of Norwich's biggest manufacturing factories, which employs 280 people, has been put up for sale.

Bayer Cropscience has announced it is planning to sell its 114-acre site on Sweet Briar Road.

The multinational crop chemicals firm Bayer took over the site, which had been owned by May and Baker, in 2002.

The firm says in a statement that it is talking to employee representatives about the sale which it hopes to complete by next March.

It says the sale is due to "ongoing global consolidation".

The site manager Tim Green said: "We are confident that a purchaser of this site would find excellent manufacturing facilities with a second-to-none workforce."
