Baseball bat attack on Thetford pub landlord

A pub landlord in Norfolk was seriously hurt when a would-be robber struck him on the head with a baseball bat.

The victim was in a flat above The Chase in Newtown, Thetford, when a man forced his way into the pub and threatened a teenage member of staff.

He demanded to know where the safe was kept, before forcing his way into the flat and hitting the landlord. He left empty-handed.

Police have just released details of Sunday night's attack.

The offender is described as white, clean shaven, in his early 20s, about 5ft 10in (1.78m) and of medium build.

He had short dark brown or black hair and was wearing a black top, black tracksuit bottoms, a grey balaclava and white trainers.

There were no customers in the pub at the time of the incident, between 2300 GMT and 2320 GMT.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Norfolk Police.
