Two 'appalling' burglars jailed over Norwich raids

Two men with "appalling records" have been jailed for burglary in Norwich while on licence from prison this year.

Darren Harvey, 39, of Foulger's Opening in the city, was jailed for four and a half years after admitting two house and four commercial burglaries.

Gary Denham, 42, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 30 months jail for two house and two commercial burglaries.

Judge Simon Barham at Norwich Crown Court said they had betrayed those who tried to help them.

He said: "An aggravating matter is you both have appalling records and although you have received help you continued to offend."

In one raid at a paint and decorating business in Norwich Harvey took £7,000 in cash and £3,000 worth of goods.

All the offences were committed when they were free in Norwich between January and March.

Both men also admitted handling stolen goods.
