Thieves steal bikes from Brandon police station

Thieves have broken into a police building in Suffolk and made off with bikes belonging to officers.

Two men took four bicycles from the station on High Street, Brandon, between 0340 BST and 0350 BST on Thursday.

The men cycled off with a bike each before returning to walk off with the remaining two.

Sgt Chris Chisnall said officers would continue their work on foot or using "alternative modes of transport".

The bikes had been donated to the police to allow them to access areas such as Thetford forest.

Sgt Chisnall, of the Brandon safer neighbourhood team, said: "Three of these bikes were generously donated by partners, and have enabled local officers, many of them volunteers with the special constabulary, to carry out valuable work in the Brandon area.

"Officers will continue their work on foot or using alternative modes of transport, and I would urge anyone who may have information about where the bikes are to come forward."

Both men have been described as being of slim build, one wearing dark clothing and the other a light coloured jacket and dark trousers.
