Terrington St John doctors in surgery scout hut row

A compulsory purchase order could be made on a disused doctors' surgery in Norfolk to allow another health firm to move out of a scout hut.

First Health bought the practice from three partners in Terrington St John, near King's Lynn, earlier in the year.

But a disagreement meant the old partners refused to sell the practice building to First Health, which is now operating out of a scout hut.

An application to start a compulsory purchase order will be made later.

Councillor Brian Long will apply to Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk on Thursday evening.

Ian Ayres, NHS Norfolk's director of strategy and innovation, said he understood that patients were disappointed that the old practice premises were not in use.

"The building is owned by the previous practice which is an independent business and an agreement to buy or lease the building has not been possible at this stage," he said.

"I give my assurance that much is being done to normalise the situation in Terrington St John."
