Sam Cook: Man charged over fatal Liverpool stabbing

A man has been charged with murder after a 21-year-old was stabbed in a Liverpool bar while celebrating his birthday.

Sam Cook, from Crosby, was fatally injured in the basement of the Empire Bar in Seel Street on 21 October.

Carl Madigan, 22, of Adam Close, Garston, is charged with his murder. A second man, Lewis Langfield, 20, of Anfield, has been charged with assault.

Both are due to appear before Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Cook died from a stab wound to the heart.
