Five-year-old girl attacked by dog in Norris Green
A five-year-old girl has suffered injuries to her head, neck and hand in a dog attack at a relative's house in Liverpool, police have said.
Merseyside Police said the girl was attacked by the dog, which was not a banned breed and belonged to a relative, at the house in Wellesbourne Place, Norris Green, on Friday evening.
Her injuries were not life threatening but required surgery, a spokesman said.
The dog was put down after receiving injuries while it was being restrained.
A 24-year-old man from Norris Green was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control, but "has since been released pending a disposal decision", the spokesman said.
