Aigburth road death: Family of man fatally struck by car pay tribute

The family of a man who was killed when he was struck by a car in Liverpool have paid tribute to him.

Mark Whyte, 52, from Aigburth, died after he was hit by the vehicle which then crashed into a lamppost and overturned in Aigburth Road on Tuesday.

His family said he "enjoyed playing drums and guitar in various bands".

The 26-year-old driver arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving was bailed. He was recalled to prison for breaching the terms of his release.

The statement from his family said: "Mark has a large family including two brothers, two sisters, a daughter, three sons and five grandchildren.

"He had a loving partner of three years, Karen.

"He enjoyed playing drums and guitar in various bands and had lots of friends."
