A nightclub in Liverpool city centre has been temporarily closed after a teenage boy was stabbed there.

The 16-year-old was attacked at Escape in the early hours of 27 December. A 17-year-old has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of wounding.

Liverpool City Council's licensing committee agreed to suspend the licence of the Stanley Street venue pending a full licence review hearing in January.

The decision followed an application by Merseyside Police.
