Sheep dog rescues sheep from flooded river in Ambleside

A sheep dog led a rescue operation when a flock of sheep got cut off after the latest spell of heavy rain in Cumbria.

The sheep were seen fleeing as the loyal Border Collie directed them away from the River Rothay in Ambleside, where the animals had become cut off.

Posting on Facebook, Emily Millington said: "So pleased the sheep and the dog are safe! What an amazing animal!"

Parts of Cumbria are coping with another bout of severe flooding.
