A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Liverpool.

Richie Bratin, 51, died after being hit by a silver Ford Focus on Richard Kelly Drive, Walton, on Friday evening.

The car was found abandoned less than half a mile away in Sandyville Grove on Saturday morning. The driver has yet to be identified.

The 21-year-old woman from Norris Green is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police have appealed for the "two female occupants" of a car which a plain clothes patrol spoke to on Walton Hall Avenue shortly before Mr Bratin was hit to get in touch.

His family said he was "thoughtful and caring" and "was always happy and supportive to close friends, family and even to complete strangers".
