A large blaze burned for about five hours at a factory in Merseyside.

The fire on the Haydock Industrial Estate started at about 16:20 GMT on Monday. The single-storey unit contained 1,000 litres of diesel fuel.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue believe the fire may have been started accidentally by welding sparks.

They said two acetylene cylinders were being monitored and "are at a constant and low temperature".

A number of road closures have now been lifted.
