A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body in a flat.

Anne Marie Cropper was found dead in the property on Royal Terrace, Southport, on Thursday.

The 47-year-old, who died from head and chest injuries, was described by her family as a "much-loved daughter, sister, mother and grandma".

Ian Gordon, 51, of Royal Terrace, was charged with murder and remains in custody after a brief court appearance.

He is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday.
