Four men have been charged following the discovery of one of Merseyside's biggest cannabis farms in a Liverpool tower block.

Candia Towers in Everton was raided on Wednesday after a passing patrol noticed a strong smell of cannabis.

Officers found thousands of plants being grown in eight flats on three different floors.

The men are charged with the production of a controlled drug and are due before at Liverpool Magistrates' Court later.

One of the men is aged 49 is from Everton, while the other three, aged 36, 39 and 49 are of no fixed address.
