Apartment plans for Heap’s Rice Mill site in Liverpool
A Grade II-listed derelict Victorian warehouse in Liverpool is to be converted into luxury apartments.
Heap's Rice Mill, on Beckwith Street, will be turned into more than 500 flats in the original warehouse building and three new blocks around the site.
Planning permission for the £130m scheme has been given to developers One Park Lane Limited.
Former uses of the site, which dates back to the 1780s, include preparing rice for Kellogg's Rice Krispies.
The mill building, in the Baltic Triangle area of the city, was an operational mill until 2005 but has been empty ever since.
It will now be refurbished and and extended to provide 123 apartments with three further buildings providing 194 apartments and 200 serviced apartments in blocks ranging from 10 to 14 storeys.
There will also be commercial areas for retail, food and drink, and leisure purposes.
