Murder arrest after injured man dies in Whiston

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Merseyside.

Tony Gibbons, 53, was found at a house on Martock in Whiston, on Sunday, with lacerations to his neck and arms.

He died on the way to hospital. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the precise cause of death, police said.

A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A statement from the victim's family said: "Tony loved music and going out with friends to the local labour club.

"Everyone loved him and he was the life and soul everywhere he went."
