Man seriously injured in Liverpool shooting

A 33-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was shot in the knee in Liverpool, police said.

The shooting happened in an area near Princes Avenue and Cairns Street in Toxteth on Sunday.

Officers stopped a taxi travelling to hospital with two passengers on board - one of whom had been shot in the knee.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are said to be "serious, but not life threatening". Patrols have been stepped up in the area.
