Cannabis factory found in old NatWest bank in Widnes

A cannabis factory with more than 1,500 plants has been discovered at a disused bank in Widnes, police have said.

The plants were distributed over four floors of a building in Victoria Road which used to house a NatWest bank.

Det Con Neil Gordon, Cheshire Police, said it was a "sophisticated set-up that we believe could have yielded a significant crop".

The plants were discovered on Friday and are being forensically examined. No arrests have been made.
