Teenager, 18, detained after body found in St Helens

An 18-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in St Helens, has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Police found the body of David Rimmer, 69, in a flat on Borough Road at about 21:40 BST on Friday.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be a head injury.

Merseyside Police said the teenager, from the Newtown area of St Helens, would be detained for 28 days to allow for medical assessment.
