A charity concert has taken place in Liverpool in memory of a girl who was killed in an arson attack.

Three-year-old Francesca Bimpson died when her aunt's former boyfriend set fire to their home in Everton in 2008.

Proceeds from the Liver-Aid concert will go to a foundation set up in her name, which supports families affected by serious crime.

Artists involved in the event at the Olympia Theatre include Mel C, Ricky Tomlinson and Ian McCulloch.

Francesca's father Kieron said it had been a "very emotional" experience to organise the concert as "a celebration of Francesca's life".

He said he contacted famous people connected to Merseyside and "nobody said no" when asked to appear.

"Hopefully it'll be a fantastic night," he added.

Francesca suffered fatal burns when Graham Heaps started the fire in December 2008 because he was bitter about a break-up with her aunt.

He was jailed for a minimum of 28 years for her murder after being convicted by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court.
