Two men arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man on a Liverpool street have been freed without charge.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, was found collapsed at the junction of Woolton Street and Allerton Road at about 05:40 BST on Tuesday.

Merseyside Police said the results of a post-mortem examination had been withheld pending toxicology tests.

No further action will be taken against a 53-year-old from Woolton and a 55-year-old from Halewood, police said.

Det Insp Colin Rennison said police wanted to speak to people who were in the nearby Coffee House pub around closing time on Monday to "piece together the events prior to the man's death".

Police are treating the death as unexplained.
