Crosby schoolboy stabbed in head with pencil

A 13-year-old boy has been stabbed in the head with what is thought to be a pencil at a Merseyside school.

The pupil was injured at St Michael's Church of England High School in Crosby at 14:30 GMT on Tuesday.

Another 13-year-old pupil was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken to a police station for questioning. He has been excluded by the school.

The injured boy was taken to hospital to be treated for a small cut to the left side side of his head.

Dr Simon Hulme, head teacher of the school, said: "A 13-year-old pupil is currently excluded following this incident and we are assisting police with their enquiries."

He said he would be writing to parents.
