Cardinal Heenan School cleaner injured in firework blast

A cleaner at a school in Liverpool has suffered facial burns after a firework exploded nearby.

Emergency crews were called to Cardinal Heenan Roman Catholic High School, West Derby, at 15:10 GMT after the firework went off near the main school gates.

Merseyside Police said the 58-year-old woman was treated in hospital for three small third degree burns to her face. She has since been discharged.

Detectives have launched an investigation.
