Southport homemade stun-guns raid suspect sectioned

A man arrested after two homemade stun-guns were found in a raid on a house in Southport has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Police said a crossbow, handgun, flares and chemicals were also recovered in the Liverpool Road house, on Thursday.

The 51-year-old man, from Birkdale, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled drug.

The raid followed investigations by detectives, said police.

The Army, fire service and police teams took part in the raid and removed chemicals for laboratory testing.
