M62 crash man cut free from van by firefighters

Firefighters cut a hole in the roof of an overturned van to rescue a man following a crash on the M62 motorway.

The van collided with a Renault saloon between junctions six and seven westbound in Merseyside at 15:30 BST.

Six men had been inside the van, including its driver, who was released from his van with the Renault driver before the firefighters arrived.

Firefighters cut the hole to free the man in the back of the van to help paramedics free him.

The North West Ambulance Service said six men were injured, three described as walking wounded and three were taken to hospital on spine injury boards.

None of the injuries were described as life threatening.
