Biker arrested over cyclist death in Walton crash

A cyclist has died after a collision involving a motorbike in Liverpool.

Emergency services were called to Walton Lane, Walton at 18:30 BST on Thursday. The cyclist, 37, was taken to Fazakerley Hospital where he died.

The 22-year-old rider of the motorbike was also taken to hospital where his condition was described as serious.

Police said the biker, who is from Walton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after his condition improved.

Officers are keen to speak to the drivers of a van similar to a white Ford Transit Connect that was parked on Walton Lane and a black Hackney cab that passed by the scene immediately afterwards, as they believe they may have witnessed the incident.
