CCTV images of a car have been released by police investigating the murder of a man in Liverpool.

Joseph Thompson, 32, who was known to police, was shot dead on Ravensthorpe Green in Norris Green at about 01:00 BST on 14 June.

Police said they were probing whether Mr Thompson's death was the latest in a series of gang-related shootings.

They are trying to trace a Citroen C4 seen in the area at the time and say they want to speak to the occupants.

A 27-year-old man was also shot and taken to hospital with critical injuries.

The car was seen on Sedgemoor Road and on Lowerhouse Lane at the junction with East Lancashire Road at around the time of the shootings.

Det Insp Neil Clark said: "Given a number of weeks have passed people may now feel in a position to talk to the police."

Flowers and tributes left at the scene were removed by police amid fears they could raise tensions in the area.
