Man charged with Southport woman's murder

A man has been charged with murdering a woman who was stabbed to death in Southport.

Rebecca Holmes, 47, was found at a house in Cherry Road, Ainsdale, by police on Thursday evening.

She was taken to hospital but later died as a result of blood loss from multiple stab wounds.

Merseyside Police said a 50-year-old man from Toxteth had been charged with murder and was due to appear before South Sefton magistrates later.
