A 22-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being shot twice in Merseyside.

The man was found in Pennard Avenue, Huyton, at about 02:50 BST with stomach, arm and leg injuries after being attacked with a shotgun.

Pennard Avenue has been cordoned off and CCTV footage from the area is being analysed.

Supt Graham Yip, of Merseyside Police, appealed for information about the attacker.

He said that anyone with information was welcome to contact police "anonymously if preferred, so we can take action against those responsible".

"We act on all information we receive and urge anyone with any information about the incident, or about who is involved in gun crime and where they store their guns, to come forward so we can take them off our streets and make our communities safer," he said.
