A man arrested after another man suffered serious burns in a suspected acid attack in Liverpool has been released on bail.
The victim, 33, was attacked in Wavertree on Tuesday night. He suffered burns to his face, neck and body.
A police officer who was called to the incident suffered burns to his arms and hands when he helped him put cold water on his injuries, a spokesman said.
The arrested man, 39, was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding.
Police said they believed the "extremely nasty incident" was deliberate.
