'Explosives' close Earlestown police station

A police station on Merseyside was evacuated after two devices, believed to be explosive, were handed in.

A cordon was put in place around Earlestown police station and the nearby bus station at about 1100 GMT on Thursday.

Police said bomb disposal officers were on their way to the scene.

A spokesman said: "Police are asking people to stay away from the area and seek alternative routes where possible. There is traffic congestion as a result of this incident."
