Fireworks stolen from newsagents in Liverpool

About £5,000 of fireworks have been stolen from a newsagents in Liverpool.

Thieves broke into a storage area next to the newsagents in Breck Road, Anfield, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Several boxes were stolen, many of which had a Bad Boy logo. Police believe they were then transferred to a vehicle as they were very heavy.

Ch Insp Shaun Holland, of Merseyside Police, said the fireworks were "extremely powerful and would be dangerous in the wrong hands".

He urged witnesses or anyone who is offered similar fireworks in suspicious circumstances to contact them.

"The last thing we want to see is someone seriously injured as a result of having bought these fireworks on the cheap and underestimating the caution and expertise needed in letting them off safely," he added.
